Rural Ugandan pastors often make very little income. It is RPI's goal to help teach rural pastors how to sustain their families through agriculture, farming, mechanics or some other means; all while maintaining the call to ministry. The Lord has provided land near the institute and we are in the beginning stages of developing a model farm. On this property we will train pastors in various farming techniques, sustainability, and business practices. We will use grown produce to sustain and enhance our program by feeding students, families, and staff when visiting. |
Meet Blair
We have a new member at the RPI...our first goat! BLAIR!!! He is a 3 months buck who we plan to use as our breed buck of the herd. He has been carefully selected from a great breed of goats. RPI recently sold some of its sugar cane for $100 – those funds were used to purchase a pregnant goat. So our goat project is expanding!!!

Fodder Grasses Being Planted, Crops Being Harvested
We have cultivated 2.5 acres of fodder grasses (1 acre on the RPI campus and 1.5 acres on the new property). Our target will be to cultivate 5 acres of fodder grasses by the close of the year to feed our intended breeding stock next year. A recent dry spell impacted our corn crop, but we currently have enough fodder/grass to support about 20 goats.
Some of our sugar cane has been harvested and we have more that will be ready in 3 months. The current agriculture funding need is $12,000 for our model farm. Future expansion: We will need to have a pit latrine and a house on our new property before housing the goats there. |
